Tracing Creativity and Entrepreneurship

Bertelsmann captured my attention early in my studies. The unique blend of creativity and entrepreneurship immediately fascinated me. My interest deepened when I participated in “Talent Meets Bertelsmann” in 2022 and won with my team "Fintech." This experience made it clear to me: the Future Leaders Graduate Program offers exactly the development opportunities I was looking for.

The program's Business Track allows participants to explore the diverse areas of a global media, services and education group within 18 months. The great thing about it is the flexibility to tailor rotations according to individual interests and the opportunity to actively contribute to significant projects from the very beginning.

At the Intersection of Media, Strategy, and AI: My Time as a Future Leader

My first assignment brought me to BMG’s Corporate Development team in Berlin. Over the course of seven months, I gained deep insights into the international music business, contributing to numerous projects, analyses, and reports within the new strategy process.

The second placement led me to Bertelsmann’s Global Public Affairs & Government Relations Team in Berlin and Brussels. Working at the intersection of business and politics, I supported analyses of tech-related regulatory issues and closely followed the European elections. This experience broadened my understanding of political processes and sharpened my perspective on the major transformations of our time.

After that, as part of the Cologne AI Hub of the Bertelsmann Tech & Data Alliance, I worked on planning and implementing the 2024 Tech & Data Summit and developing a company-wide AI Asset Catalog. This role enabled me to advance the knowledge about the strategic implications of generative AI across the company and foster synergies between various business units.

More Than a Graduate Program

As part of the Future Leaders Graduate Program, I am part of a unique network: in a decentralized organization like Bertelsmann, we are also a sort of bridge-builder between various divisions. We can pass on experience from individual divisions to other teams and thus ensure a greater transfer of knowledge. This role allows us to look beyond our immediate tasks and learn from the exchange of diverse perspectives.

The program offers much more than just insights into different business areas. It is a time of intense personal and professional growth. From strategic analysis to project management and international collaboration, the variety of tasks both challenges and enables me.

What Future Leaders Should Bring

The Bertelsmann Future Leaders Program is more than just a career start. Those interested in the program should bring two main qualities: the readiness to embrace new challenges and the willingness to take on responsibility. The Future Leaders Graduate Program offers the chance to grow in a dynamic environment and actively shape the future of a leading corporation. An experience I would not want to miss!
