Creative Assignment 2019

“Why is your team greater than the sum of its parts?” In the creative assignment, our talents show what they’ve got!

Best of Creative Assignment

Browse through some highlights of past events!

Theresa Rutscheidt, 2021

“TMB21 was an exceptional experience as everything was happening online for the first time. But it was no less fun in any way! Turning the creative assignment’s motto ‘together apart’ into a captivating video was the best start to get to know the team members. And indeed, we overcame the physical distance by each of us shooting short videos which were then cut together into one coherent story. After that, our team members felt closer to each other and even more empowered for our final presentation.”

Marcus Fetzer, 2018

“The get-together of the group and getting to know each other made the first day of Talent Meets Bertelsmann very special. And of course, the deep dive into the group roles. First you have to find your place in the group pretty quickly, then come out of your comfort zone.”

Saruul Krause-Jentsch, 2015

“Talent Meets Bertelsmann is much more than just a recruiting event, it really IS a networking extravaganza. On the first day, Bertelsmann asked us to work on a creative task, which was a lot of fun and a great opportunity to get to know our team members.”

Jan Tenenbaum, 2017

“TMB was very special because of all the new people I met. It was an outstanding bunch of great individuals coming from different backgrounds and locations. Also, the pace at which we worked was incredible. I hardly remember any occasion where I needed to elaborate something that quickly.”

Best of Workshops

Participants work on case studies focusing on future trends in media, services, education or data science.

Paik Hemprich, 2021

“TMB21 was the ideal opportunity for me to get to know Bertelsmann and its individual divisions. I enjoy case studies and working in interdisciplinary teams, so I was excited to have the opportunity at TMB to find out more about an industry that was new to me, and to meet many inspiring and motivated people.”

Jan Tenenbaum, 2017

“I didn’t expect the high level of support we received to perform so well. Not only did we get clear instructions and great support from the divisions – Arvato in my case – those guys were very much into it and did everything to help us. But also, we had an internal consultant who provided a different point of view which definitely speeded up our work.”

Jenny Dreier, 2013

“The workshop was intense and with a great team, we managed to develop a new concept for Bertelsmann’s BePrinters division in order for it to leverage the digital developments for their business. Besides getting to know Bertelsmann as a company there were many opportunities to get to know the other participants as well as the media business in general and most importantly: it was a lot of fun.”

Benedikt Dalkmann, 2008

“The event – which in 2008 was still called Talent Meets Media – was simply fantastic. The workshops were stimulating, the social program was a lot of fun, and the participants were curious, open-minded and fun. I was inspired by the many facets of Bertelsmann and the entrepreneurial mind-set of the executives whom I spoke to.”

Best of Presentations

The teams present their ideas in front of members of the Bertelsmann Executive Board – the best teams win attractive prizes.

Laurena Patti, 2021

“TMB was the most amazing experience. I got to meet so many outstanding people and learned a lot professionally and also about myself. One of the highlights was presenting our workshop results in front of the jury. They were so appreciative and sincerely interested in our thoughts and ideas that we were invited to pitch our idea to representatives from Mediengruppe RTL. We are still in touch with them, talking about opportunities for collaboration.”

Sascha Firtina, 2016

“I enjoyed most how interactive the audience was. It was also good to see how interested the Board members of Bertelsmann were and how involved they got with our presentation and our questions. And, of course, the applause in the end and the positive feedback we got for our presentation. That was really incredible.”

Ute Brade, 2012

“All in all, TMB was a successful event, where I learned a lot and gained great impressions! In particular, I liked the presentation of the workshop results. It was great to get the chance to present our ideas in front of the business representatives and obtain their feedback.”

Tessa Niemann, 2013

“TMB is a great opportunity to take a look into so many interesting facets of Bertelsmann and to present your ideas and visions in front of the Bertelsmann Board.”

Best of Networking and Party

At the party and concert, the talents get in contact with other international guests.

Paik Hemprich, 2021

“TMB offers you a unique opportunity to be part of an inspiring and vibrant community. Regardless of whether you are interested in media or whether you have even heard of Bertelsmann before: You will be surprised by the diversity of the company, it's divisions and its people.”

Raphaela Ring, 2017

“I enjoy most that I got to meet people – fellow participants as well as Bertelsmann employees – who had similar interests but came from very different backgrounds. So, I think me and all of these different minds figuring out how I would fit into that world was really useful.”

Jenny Dreier, 2013

“TMB was a lot more than just another employer branding event. The whole event was perfectly organized and besides getting to know Bertelsmann as a company there were many opportunities to get to know the other participants as well as the media business in general and most importantly: it was a lot of fun.”

Annika Senkovic, 2010

“The TMB event offered a lot: interesting and challenging group work, great care by employees and executives of the Group's divisions, an attractive and well-organized program with an "after-show party" where you had the chance to get to know many company representatives and party together in the evening.”

What happened after?

Our alumni share their career stories.

Theresa Rutscheidt

“After getting to know the open, creative and entrepreneurial culture of Bertelsmann at TMB21, I felt even more enthusiastic to apply for the Future Leaders Graduate Program – and luckily, I got accepted and will start my Bertelsmann journey just a few months after TMB!”

Sascha Firtina

“We came first in the competition at TMB, and right after the presentation one of Bertelsmann’s Board members approached me and asked me if I wanted to become his personal assistant. I got to know him and decided to decline an offer from Google to join Bertelsmann as his assistant in September 2016. It was one of the best times I have ever had. I learned a lot, traveled the world and got to know the media industry working for a really experienced CEO. That was an incredible experience.“

Marcus Fetzer

“I finished my Master’s thesis with new enthusiasm because data was a topic of TMB and also of my thesis. After that, I started my traineeship at Gruner + Jahr.”

Jana Fournier

“I participated in TMB in 2012. Afterwards I finished my internship at careerloft in Berlin, then enjoyed the summer at my parents before writing my Master’s thesis in Montréal, Canada. During all that time I never lost contact with Bertelsmann, which was great for me, since I was looking to start a job right after my thesis.”

Svenja Ziegert

“When TMB was over I returned to London, where I finished writing my Master’s thesis. After handing it in, I spent the five months from October 2011 to February 2012 in Brussels as a Blue Book trainee with the European Commission. Then, at Halloween, I joined the other team members and the leaders of our group on a trip to New York!”
