Gütersloh, Germany

Describe your educational background. Where did you study and what degrees did you receive?
I received the "Diplom-Kauffrau" from the University of Siegen, specializing in HR Management, Marketing, and Working Law.
Describe your career history. What were your professional experiences prior to your current position?

I did an apprenticeship at a bank in Düsseldorf, studied economics at the University of Siegen, served in my first job as a project manager in a promotion agency, and finally came to be HR Manager at MOHN Media.

What are your current roles and responsibilities?
I have worked in Gütersloh since 1997 as an HR Generalist (together with my team) for about 1,000 employees in four companies. I am also a specialist for recruiting and early retirement programs. During my six-week internship in New York, I worked in Nadia Meier’s Management Development Team. Besides some smaller tasks, I developed a training survey for the U.S. companies and a basic curriculum for an internal and external internship program.
What has been your most memorable moment (so far) in your job?
My stay at Bertelsmann in New York at an HR meeting with many wonderful and interesting U.S. colleagues in the marvelous conference room with an impressive view over midtown Manhattan, and the ongoing networking process between these colleagues.
If you could take a year off, what would you do?
Travel around the world or work as a dive master in East Africa.
What is your favorite spot in the world?
Madeira, a Portuguese island in the Atlantic Ocean.
What are the qualities that you admire most in a person?
Loyalty, honesty, and the ability to laugh about yourself.
If you could meet anyone from history, living or dead, who would it be?
Jackie and John F. Kennedy—because they were two of the most fascinating personalities in politics and society.
What is your favorite book, movie, and artist?
Book: Le petit prince (The Little Prince) by Antoine de St.-Exupéry.
Movie: Im Rausch der Tiefe (The Big Blue) with my favorite actor, Jean Reno.
Artist: Lance Lensfield, a brilliant photographer.
