Describe your educational background. Where did you study, what degrees did you receive?

I am currently a senior at St. John’s University with a Major in Computer Science and a minor in Business Administration. I hope to be graduating in the Spring of 2010.

Describe your career history. What have been your professional experiences prior to your current position?

Prior to my current position, I have worked in an automation company named Techno Inc. on Long Island. There I compiled parts needed to fulfill work orders and delivered said parts to the floor for assembly. Currently, I work part-time for King Kullen Grocery Co. as a Stock Associate and part-time Night Manager. I maintain a section of over 600 items, and as needed, I fill roles such as Receiver, Scanning Coordinator and Manager.

Describe a typical day at your job:
A typical day at Bertelsmann HR starts at 9am with a nice Iced coffee. After that I check my emails from days that I am out of the office. (I am here Mondays and Wednesdays) I then begin working on some of the presentations assigned by the team or myself. During the day, many little side projects come up as well. Lunch is always fun with all the guys here! We try different food all the time in search of that perfect place. After lunch I continue work on my projects and have daily meetings with the team to discuss future projects and team assignments.

What has been your most memorable moment (so far) in your job?
I created a very short video that was quite roughly edited and sent it to the team. A few days later Freddie came into my cube and handed me a stack of emails of him talking to co-workers from Germany about my work. It was very satisfying knowing that the work I do here is noticed and appreciated by the team.

If I were a cartoon character, I would be :

    Fred Flinstone

What qualities do you feel are necessary to be a successful employee at your company?

I feel that it is necessary to be focused on current and active tasks at all times. You also must be able to receive criticism and benefit from that criticism. Being able to accept and implement the ideas of your own along with the ideas of others can also be a very useful skill.

Have you had the opportunity to travel as part of your job?
This internship will require me to use the train and subway as well. I have limited knowledge of both, so I will learn with time.

Do you feel you have a good understanding of Bertelsmann and it’s corporate culture?
Bertelsmann is a very large company with many subsidiaries, I am beginning to become familiar with the structure of the company and will hopefully learn more as I go on.
