Meet Anna...

Name: Anna
Company: Bertelsmann, Inc.
Location: New York, NY

I am a person with a lot of interests in different kinds of fields. Some of my interests are; travel, fashion, interior design, music, sports, adventures, food and wines, human behavior and zoology.

I have been traveling since I was little with my family, friends, and by my own. I can not say which trip or country that was the best. But one of the better trips that I have done was when I was backpacking through Australia, New Zeeland, and Thailand. I loved that trip because I met a lot of interesting people and did a lot of adventures such as parachuting, jeep safari, sailing, road trips etcetera.

In my spare time I like to be active and do some sports such as tennis, squash, volleyball, and sometimes golf. Once a year I go to the Alps and ski. I have also been horseback riding since I was little, and took lessons for about ten years in dressage and jumping. Recently I have just started to climb which I have found is very stimulating and fun.

I love to drive cars. A good complement to that if you want to do some challenges driving, is go-carts which I found are very amusing.

My heart is very close to animals and the nature. One thing that I would love to do is working at a farm where you take care of hurt or abandon wild animals.

Describe your educational background. Where did you study, what degrees did you receive?
I am taking a Bachelor in Personnel, Work, and Organization at the University of Stockholm, in Sweden. This is a program that focuses on Human Resources, and my major is Pedagogy. Additionally I have taken a course in Fashion before I started my Bachelor program.

Describe your career history. What have been your professional experiences prior to your current position?

I have been working at different jobs since I was sixteen years old, such as a receptionist, waitress, real-estate manager assistant, delivery driver, florist etc...
From all those roles I have received new professional experiences, which I believe I can always use in some way.

What are your current roles and responsibilities?
This is my second day at Bertelsmann so my current role today is to do some researching about Bertelsmann and its many North American operations, and go through an intern orientation and integration check list.

Describe a typical day at your job:
When it is my second day, it is hard to tell how my typical day looks like already. But for now start my day with a nice cup of coffee, say good morning to everyone, put some music on, and start working. I think you will never get bored here because the crew are very nice and have a great sense of humor and are always there if you want to ask for help.

What attracted you to your company and position? What is your favorite thing about your job?

I did get the feeling that Bertelsmann has a nice and positive spirit, after watching some video clips about the company. Bertelsmann is really focusing on the employee’s wellness. I have only been here for two days, and everyone I have met who works for Bertelsmann seems like they enjoy their work and are very motivated. This is attractive to me, to have the opportunity to work in a company were the employees are happy and work together like a family.

    If I were a cartoon character, I would be…

    Tinkerbell.

What qualities do you feel are necessary to be a successful employee at your company?
Be creative, positive, social, and open-minded.

Have you had the opportunity to travel as part of your job?

No, but I would love to.

Do you feel you have a good understanding of Bertelsmann and its corporate culture?

Yes, even if I only have been here for two days.

My favorite book, movie and artist are…

This is a difficult question. I have no favorite book, movie or artist. There are too many good books, movies, and artists! But one of many good books that I have read is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Lost in Translation is one of many good movies and artists, this is the toughest one. I listen to The killers, Shout out Louds, Coldplay, Bob Marley, The Cure, MGMT etcetera.
