My life in a nuthsell:
I listen to music every single day. As a matter of fact, in my dorm hall, I’m known for always having headphones in my ear.
I love debating, politics, and law. I am currently on the St. John's Mock Trial Team, which really helps me to express myself more effectively and eloquently.
My mommy and daddy (Phyllis & Dan), as well as my brothers and sister (Anthony, Shawn, Daniel, and Philtrina) always support me in everything I do, which gives me the courage to try different things.
Some of my goals for the future are to become President of the United States of America, to become a lawyer, and to use my wealth to help others who really need it.
I love following the teachings of the Bible, I think it helps me live a pretty decent life.
Describe your educational background. Where did you study, what degrees did you receive?
I recently graduated from Doctors Charter School of Miami Shores with honors (Magna cum Laude). Currently, I attend St. John’s University as an undergraduate student studying Political Science as my major and Psychology as my minor.
Describe your career history. What have been your professional experiences prior to your current position?
During my time in Miami, FL, I served as a legal secretary at a law firm. This position taught me the importance of observing everything meticulously and putting forth maximum effort in all of my endeavors. This past summer, I was also a camp counselor for the Girl Power Program.
What are your current roles and responsibilities?
The tasks that I perform vary from week to week. As I learn the many facets of this company and gain more skills, I can notice the increase in the amount of responsibility delegated to me. So far, I have worked on Youtube videos, evaluating and editing the websites operated by Bertelsmann, writing articles for publication, blogging, creating a marketing kit, and exploring forms of promotion through the World Wide Web.
Describe a typical day at your job:
I can honestly say that there is no such thing as a “typical day” at Bertelsmann, Inc. The only sure things of the day are that I am going to get hot chocolate and eat lunch with the crew. Everything else is anyone’s guess. The staff here includes Lena, Christian, Freddie, and Miodrag. Now, I know you are probably thinking that as an intern, we only do office gopher work, but that could not be further from the truth. These people actually want you to gain something from this experience.
What attracted you to your company and position? What is your favorite thing about your job? Well, I did my research and I found that Bertelsmann, Inc. is an international media company. Need I say more? My favorite thing about this job is the fact that I am surrounded by people who are eager to teach me what they know.
What has been your most memorable moment (so far) in your job?
The most memorable moment so far has been finding the hot chocolate machine. It was love at first sight.
If you could meet anyone from history, living or dead, who would it be?
If I could meet anyone from history, it would be Malcolm X. He was a very brilliant man and social activist. Even though some of his philosophies were criticized immensely, he still held true to what he believed.
If I were a cartoon character, I would be…
Alvin Seville from Alvin and the Chipmunks, because he is ambitious and free-spirited, both are admirable characteristics.
What qualities do you feel are necessary to be a successful employee at your company?
You have to be focused, relentless, and most importantly creative.
Have you had the opportunity to travel as part of your job?
No.
Do you feel you have a good understanding of Bertelsmann and it’s corporate culture?
Yes, that was actually one of my first assignments. I had to familiarize myself with Bertelsmann, Inc.
My favorite book, movie, and artist are…
Book: The Awakening by Kate Chopin
Movie: It is a tie between Titanic & Love & Basketball Artist: Michael Jackson
